The dill sprouts have emerged.
This is the condition three days after sowing the seeds.
On the back of the bag containing the seeds, it stated:
Net weight: 6g
Germination rate: 70% or higher
The temperature over the past three days has been between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius (approximately), with humidity above 60%.

It was a period of continuous heavy rain, so if you add the high humidity and temperature typical of a tropical climate to the mild, humid climate of Japan in 2025, you can get a general idea of the conditions.

While the general guideline for germination is one week, it can sometimes happen in as little as three days, so the temperature and humidity over these three days were indeed an environment conducive to plant growth.
In other words, when you enter a greenhouse with many southern plants, it is the most suitable environment for plant growth.

We used rose-specific soil. There's no need to carry it home with you. We have Amazon!
Rose-specific soil is very good soil that contains a generous amount of fertilizer.

In Japanese reinforced concrete buildings, on balconies with adequate sunlight, this soil is the most suitable for plant growth.
Roses are often referred to as “fertilizer-hungry,” but in reality, they shouldn't be given too much fertilizer.
However, since the roots, stems, and leaves are the most important parts, it's better to choose good soil rather than relying on fertilizer.
This applies to all plants.

Dill is a type of herb, and it's the needle-shaped green stuff sprinkled on top of fish dishes.
It has a refreshing taste, doesn't it?
By chance, I purchased dill seeds labeled as organic seeds on Amazon. Organic seeds are seeds from plants that have not been treated with pesticides.

I plan to eat them once they grow, but since they look beautiful and delicate, I decided to plant the seeds in the leftover soil from when I repotted my roses.
I just scattered them randomly.
The container is probably a square aluminum can I found at Daiso or Seria, with nine holes drilled in the back using a screwdriver bit (the pointed one) for drainage.

When watering, I give it water until it drains out the bottom when the soil is dry, then let it drain and place it back in its usual spot.

This is an important point.
Using stylish containers or well-designed items at an affordable price to aid observation and growth does not mean neglecting a scientific attitude.
It is natural to use items that harmonize with the interior and views from the windows without disrupting the environment in the space where one lives.
Beauty, design, functionality, and sensibility are actually essential sensibilities when quietly engaging with science and chemistry, I believe.
Professor O. also places great importance on beauty and stylish items.

Whether one considers them important is a matter of personal preference, but to claim that beauty or style makes something less serious or less earnest is a trivial notion.
Such thinking merely undermines the value of quiet scholarship, self-study, and the pace of individual academic pursuits.
If someone makes an unnecessary comment, quietly say to yourself or in a calm voice, “Your clothes fuck off,” and return to your observation.

What is superficial about looking forward to enjoying a baguette with salmon and herbs on a beautiful morning, once you have grown up properly?
Jamie Oliver, during his youth in London, planted herbs and succulents in silver-colored cans on the small iron guards (frames) of the windows in a room that didn't get much sunlight, and used them in the dishes he served to his girlfriend and friends.
This is what true substance and strength are all about.

It’s okay. Let’s do it casually.

These are the olives we harvested.
I like dry martinis with olives, but it seems like too much work to make them myself, so I think I'll use them for interior decoration again this year.
By the way, there are various ways of making dry martinis, but I like the recipe called “GIN & IT,” which is easy to understand.
IT stands for “the best drink you think of at that moment.”
The best martini is gin combined with whatever you think is the best at that moment!
Let's dance the quietest and smallest dance in the world with what we think is the best.
